Measure for Measure

This summer Spinning Wheel Theatre has been invited to take our production of Shakespeare’s Measure to Measure to The Royal Shakespeare Company’s summer stage in Stratford Upon Avon. After these performances we are planning a rural tour of the show in Suffolk with a series of workshops for young people in Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Ixworth and Cotton.

The cast of the show is made up of five recent acting graduates and five young, local aspiring actors who have been given a tremendous opportunity to perform at the RSC in Stratford Upon Avon during the World Shakespeare Festival and to experience rural touring.

As part of the tour Spinning Wheel Theatre will provide theatre-based activities for young people ages 12-18 in rural areas. The workshops will explore the themes of Shakespeare’s problem play and provide an opportunity to learn exciting new skills with our cast of professional actors!

The children will also have the chance to watch scenes from the show acted out in special ‘VIP’ performances just for them and then ask questions and discuss the production. These workshops will take place in the rural tour venues, in the heart of the communities, during the daytime before the evening performances.
